Young voters are an important part of NYC elections. In 2024, 75.9% of eligible New Yorkers under 30 were registered to vote.
57.1% of eligible voters 18–29 in NYC turned out to vote in the 2024 Presidential election.
In the 2024 NYC general election, voters aged 18–29 represented 17.2% of the electorate, second only to those aged 30–39 (18.7%).
If you are 16 or 17, pre-registering now means you will be automatically registered when you turn 18. Consider it an early birthday present!
If you’re 14–18, the NYC Votes Youth Ambassador Program is your chance to get involved in local elections and help other young people vote. Led by young people, for young people.
Applications for 2026 are now closed.
